Dr Dheeraj Shukla completed his physician training at St George Hospital in Sydney and his gastroenterology training at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. Dr Shukla then embarked on a clinical fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. During his training he was exposed to all aspects of clinical and procedural aspects of gastroenterology. Prior to his gastroenterology training he has worked in many areas of medicine in Australia and the UK.

Dr Shukla also holds a Senior Medical Officer position at the Logan Hospital and the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is actively involved in teaching medical students, physician and gastroenterology trainees in his concurrent senior lecturer position at Griffith University. Dr Shukla is a recipient of Gastroenterology Society of Australia traveling fellowship award in 2017.

Dr Shukla holds professional memberships with Royal Australian College of Physicians, Gastroenterology society of Australia, Australian Medical Association, American Gastroenterology Association, European Crohn’s Colitis Organization and Conjoint Committee for recognition of training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
